  • 19 April 2000: Event organized in the A. G. Leventis Room in honour of Aglaia Ayoutanti, musicologist, vice-director of the Centre for Asia Minor Studies during the direction of Melpo Merlier and General Secretary of the CAMS Board. The President of the Board, Michail Sakellariou, Member of the Academy of Athens, the General Secretary of the Board, Prof. M. Kitromilidis and Prof. Maria Nystazopoulou-Pelekidou.   • 23 October 2000: The Centre for Asia Minor Studies has organized an event during which the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew has addressed the cultural and scientific world on the subject of The values of Orthodoxy as a cultural trust for the 21st century humanity. The Patriarch was welcomed by the General Secretary of the Board Prof. Paschalis M. Kitromilidis. The event took place under the auspices of the National Bank of Greece at the Melas Megaron.

 

  • 2 December 2002 – 28 February 2003: Participation in the events commemorating the 80th anniversary since the Asia Minor Disaster with the exhibition The last Hellenism of Asia Minor at the National Historical Museum. The exhibition was co-organised by the Centre for Asia Minor Studies and the Historical and Ethnological Society of Greece. It took place at the National Historical Museum (Old Parliament Megaron), with the support of the Folk Culture Division of the Ministry of Culture in the framework of events organized for the 80th anniversary since the Asia Minor Disaster.   • 29 October 2003: O. Merlier day. Octave Merlier had served as director of the Institut Français d'Athènes since his coming to Greece in 1925 until 1961, although he officially took the title in 1945. During his direction, the Institut has furthered the Greek-French relationship. To honour his offer, the IFA in collaboration with CAMS, has organized an event in memory of his life and work.   • 19 January 2005: Event for the 550 years since the foundation of the Patriarchal Great School of Nation (Phanar Greek Orthodox College). The event took place in the A.G. Leventis room. A speech was given by the General Secretary of the Board Prof. P. M. Kitromilidis on the subject of: The Patriarchal School and Greek education in Istanbul (15th – early 19th c.), foreworded by the President of the Board and Member of the Academy of Athens M. Sakellariou.

 

  • 23 – 25 February 2006: International Conference Greeks from Asia Minor and Istanbul, 1821 – 1964. The Conference was co-organized by the Institut Français d'Athènes, CAMS, the Institut Français d’ Études Anatoliennes d’ Istanbul and with the support of Österreichisches Archaeologisches Institut, the Université Paris I / Panthéon-Sorbonne, and the Yale University. Stavros Anestidis and Ioanna Petropoulou represented CAMS with oral presentations. For more information, see Centre for Asia Minor Studies Bulletin, vol. 15, pp. 524 – 5.

 

  • 21 June 2006: Presentation of the book by G. Seferis Three Days in the Monasteries of Cappadocia (3rd edition revised) in the A. G. Leventis Room of the Centre for Asia Minor Studies. Foreworded by Prof. P. M. Kitromilidis, General Secretary of the Board. Speakers: Stavros Zoumboulakis, director of the journal Nea Estia, Anna Ballian, curator of the post-byzantine and Islamic collections of the Benaki Museum, Vangelis Hatzivassiliou, literature critic of Eleftherotypia.

 

  • 2 October 2006 – 30 March 2007: In co-operation with the Hellenic Parliament Foundation, the exhibition The land of Attica welcomes the refugees of 1922 was organized aiming at the promotion of the dramatic experience of the installation of Asia Minor refugees in the land of Attica. The inauguration of the exhibition took place on the 2nd of October 2006 in the exhibition area of the Hellenic Parliament Foundation by the President of the Republic Karolos Papoulias.   • 21 April 2007: Presentation of the books: C. Christidis, Septemvriana (CAMS, Athens, 2000) and Dilek Güven, Nationalism, Social changes and Minorities (Estia, Athens, 2006). Speakers: Aimilia Themopoulou, Assistant Professor at the University of Ioannina, Elçin Macar, Assistant Professor at the Yildiz University of Istanbul, Ioannis D. Stefanidis, Associate Professor at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The event took place in the A.G. Leventis Room of the Centre for Asia Minor Studies.

 

  • 9 May 2007: Presentation of the book Sinasos (vols. A & B) by Serafim N. Rizos (edited by Stavros Th. Anestidis & Mirka Tzeveleki-Kontaki, foreworded by Ioanna Petropoulou, Athens, Centre for Asia Minor Studies, 2007). Introductory speech by Stavros Th. Anestidis, Director of the Centre of Asia Minor Studies. Speakers: Panayiotis Michaelaris, researcher at the Institute for Neohellenic Research / National Hellenic Research Foundation, Stelios Roidis, researcher, Dr. Costas Stamatopoulos, writer and historian. The event took place in the Room of Speech and Art in Stoa Vivliou.

 

  • 24 October 2007: Presentation of the book Smyrna, from cosmopolitism to nationalisms (Kedros, Athens, 2007). Speakers: Stavros Th. Anestidis, Director of CAMS, Evangelia Achladi (University of Athens), Nikos E. Karapidakis, Professor at the Ionian University, Hervé Georgelin, historian (University of Bern) and writer of the book. The manifestation took place in the Room of Speech and Art in Stoa Vivliou.
