Acess and usage of the CAMS digital collection is free to researchers and individuals who wish to become acquainted with the Asia Minor culture and respect CAMS copyright issues. Access to part of the material is provided online, while the entire archival material is available to Library visitors through the CAMS intranet.
Web access to the digitized items is provided in three ways:
-
selected material for specific settlements through an interactive map: this option mainly caters for simple users who wish to have a first idea of the kind of material that CAMS possesses for Smyrna (Izmir), Sinasos and Trapezounta (Trabzon); the settlements and the material will be renewed regularly, acquainting visitors with various aspects of the Asia Minor life and culture;
-
via the online search and retrieval system of cultural data, which allows users to access items from all or a subset of the Archives setting their own criteria for their search;
- via the CAMS geographical and thematic thesauri, which allow search based on the geographic and thematic (subject) classification of the material: users can navigate through the thesauri or search for a particular term and see not only the linked items but also the term card.
To access the data in any of the last two modes, users must register - registration is free, and the user's personal data are used by CAMS only for administrative purposes. Instructions for each access mode is provided through the help image of the corresponding page.
